The music boomed through the amphitheater, a tempest of drums and violins that sent vibrations through the ground. Setsuko emerged onto the stage like Neria stepping into battle. The audience gasped as her LED runes pulsed in time with her steps. Her pose was commanding, her staff raised high as if summoning an ancient spell. During the awards ceremony, Setsuko lingered at the back of the crowd, content with her performance regardless of placement. But as the announcer called second and third place names, she saw moments of a life come alive on stage: a young boy waving, a long-forgotten cooling glue gun, layered velvet, laughter. And when the emcee finally declared her the grand winner, there was nothing to prove. She walked forward and bowed, leaving the applause behind—immersed entirely in the bright, imaginary glow of the possibilities that surrounded her.
